What should I do with my hair, Chimere? I get this question at least once a day. And my question for you is, “What would you like to do with your hair?” The question stems from not knowing what to do with the mixture of permed and natural new growth. And I totally understand. But ladies, we have to come up with some ideas. As a natural hair stylist, there’s a few categories I use when decided what will fit my client’s personality. (and since you are yourself you’re already one up on me!) Is my client very professional? Works in a corporate office, an educator, etc. If this is the case then they’ll love perhaps updos or twist sets (straw sets) Even within this category, things aren’t so black and white. There are some grey areas because the “corporate america” look is changing fast. More offices are excepting this “look” (funny right?) And so I always ask my clients what’s the story with their office. Is the big boss cool with a straw set tomorrow morning? Or will you have weird looks. To some this may sound ridiculous—but it’s true. This happens. I’ve been pulled in the office in […]
Yes…that’s correct. The Natural Hair Lady is making house calls in and around Atlanta. The house call fee is only $35—I bring everything to you. You just relax. For years, I’ve enjoyed taking care of my clients inside the salon. I’ve gotten requests for this service and for past circumstances I was unable to. For the past few months, I’ve gotten a wonderful response. House calls have been a success. Work from home moms and dads have found it ideal to use this service—–especially with children. (unserviced children aren’t normally welcomed in salons) I bring everything to you. All I need is a sink. Any questions? Please reach out to me today.
Well well well. First of all. I appreciate all the positive feedback on my natural hair training seminars. Things are going pretty well. Recently, I had yet another client travel across the states to see me for a service: loc extensions. He told me that in the city of Chicago, there aren’t many salons that provide this service (loc extensions). The one salon that does, quoted him at $1,200. Which in my opinion—from a business perspective—-is reasonable because its obviously a demand and the service is scarce. My connection in Baltimore says know one is really aware of how awesome this technique is. In our opinion, stylist aren’t aware of how many people actually have loc extensions. A fantastic set of loc extensions can never be detected even by myself sometimes. I’ve often times forgotten that a client of mines has them. Incredible! I have to put awareness out there to these stylists. I’m currently putting together a video to distribute to these major cities. Looking forward to push them out by January 25, 2012. That’s what’s on my mind for now. Smile, it’s free you guys! ((;-D
Today I took care of a few clients. I was super excited to service my buddy and mom today. She was such a super big girl. Although her mom warned me that she was super tender-headed, she was so great that she received a treat afterwards. We decided to give the little one 2 strand twists. I suggested 2 strand twists because it’ll give her alternative ways to style her hair. (a ponytail on the side, two pigtails, all down etc) There’s no tugging on her scalp and her edges can breath. I always suggest moms to never use rubber bands in their little ladies’ hair. Rubber bands can be damaging when we roll them up and down hair. If you have to use them, try to snip them off with scissors.
Okay so we’re getting close to closing in on a date. As we get more inquiries we shall announced the date(s)/time. I’m super excited about the training classes. The class will cover loc extensions and using this technique to repair loc damage and breakages. This service is amazing! Your clients will be blown away as to how natural this process is. Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions or if you’d like to schedule a class, you may do so here. Stay inspired ladies and gents.
From time to time, I’ll be posting interesting facts from the natural hair world. Also I’d love to show client before and afters. I’ll also let you guys know what cities I’m in conducting tutorials. In the month of December or January, I will be in Baltimore conducting a class on the loc extension technique. Natural Vybz Hair Studio will be hosting this event. How exciting. :) So stay tuned for dates. And be blessed.
