Hair Growth

Natural Hair Lady’s 5 Ingredients to Healthy Hair Growth

1. Take the STRESS down

We all have things going on in life. And as we become adults, we learn that it’s all how you deal with them. My mother always told me as a child, “alright, Chimere! You can kill yourself from stress!”

I would roll my eyes as most daughters would. But it was when a male client sat in my chair years ago with the right corner of his hair missing, that I believed her. He told me he had been going through a lot the past year and that was why his locs were gone in the back. I repaired his locs with loc extensions actually that day.

Stress can actually strain our hair growth, the strength of our nails, and our skin. Be careful ladies and gents. We can’t always take away our stresses but for me it helps to identify what’s stressing me. (ex: write them down) Sometimes two things can seem like a 13 things. You’d be surprise how many women come to me with hair growth concerns and will list all the products they’ve purchased but forgot to check off the stress factor.

2. Massage a little virgin olive oil on your scalp at night.

I compare this to waking up your follicles. Like, “hey guys! Lets not forget to grow!” I had a client that was sort of referred to a natural hair salon to bring her hair back from the chemical mistreatment she suffered from. Her scalp wasn’t nudging. I had her massage oil on her scalp every night (not a clump; dip some on your finger tips and them massage sparingly)  A year later, in tears, she thanked me because she recognized how much her hair had grown and how her scalp had recovered totally!

There’s no need to over do it. Just so that your scalp is moisturized as you would with lotion on your skin. You know when your knee caps will need a little more oil or lotion to replenish.

3. Be aware of what you’re putting inside you.

I titled this specifically to not anchor you towards dieting. Be aware of your water intake, how many fruits and veggies you take in. Fish is a healthy alternative to your meat cravings. I’m not a vegetarian; but I was for 8 years. From my experiences, I can attest that my red meat intake has slowed down my body drastically. Will I go back? In time, but yes.

This is not to say that your hair will not grow if you eat meat. I don’t throw eggs at folks with fur coats; but I say be aware.

Lively intake = a more alive outcome!

I can count on my hands (4) how many clients have EXTREME hair growth. I’ve analyzed these clients and ask them a million questions as far as “what do you do?” “is this hereditary?” As far as why their hair grows so fast. Do know what it is?

They eat VERY well. Making sure you eat your fruits, veggies, and keeping hydrated with water.

I think we all know this but sometimes it’s just easier to complain about a lack of hair growth and/or buy a new product. #justkeepingitreal

4. Along with great eating habits comes along…..fitness.

Need I say more? It doesn’t have to be going out purchasing a new fitness club membership either. It could be simply taking the stairs instead of the elevator next time. I believe once you eat better, you’ll move better, which’ll promote……..

5. A Positive Outlook.

I’ve been in the natural hair industry for several years as a hair care professional. And I’ve noticed it’s more psychology and some action.

So many clients come to my salon, sit down, talk horribly about their hair, then take their hat off. First thing I tell them: “your hair hears you!”

It sounds crazy but we need to treat our hair like children or plants. You treat them well or speak highly of it/them; you’ll see results. (If you have a green thumb, you know talking to plants increases growth)

The law of attraction works with hair growth as well folks.
